Transparency matters, so here is exactly how TechHive Club builds its buying guides and what our scores mean.
What we do
- We aggregate expert reviews. For every category we read hands-on reviews and lab measurements from established outlets, such as RTINGS, What Hi-Fi, Notebookcheck, TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, SoundGuys, MusicRadar and respected European publications. We look for where reviewers agree and where they don’t.
- We use measured data where it exists. Figures like battery life, brightness, latency or input lag come from published measurements, and we name the source when we quote one.
- We check European prices. We look at current prices from European retailers and price-comparison sites, and note when a price was checked. Prices change often, so always confirm the price at the shop.
- We always list the cons. Every product we recommend has downsides, and we tell you what they are.
What we don’t do (yet)
We don’t currently test products hands-on in our own lab. Our guides are research-based summaries of expert opinion and measurements. We’ll never claim we’ve tested something when we haven’t. If we start hands-on testing in the future, we’ll say so clearly in each article.
The TechHive score
Each product gets a TechHive score out of 10. It reflects:
- Performance based on the consensus of expert reviews and measurements (the biggest factor).
- Value, meaning what you get for the current European price.
- Known drawbacks such as reliability concerns, missing features or poor software.
Scores compare products within the same category. A 9.0 TV and a 9.0 MIDI keyboard are both excellent in their own class, but the numbers aren’t comparable across categories. Scores may change when prices move or new models arrive.
Keeping guides up to date
We revisit our guides regularly and show the date of the last update at the top of each article. If you spot something out of date, please let us know.
